Oily, itchy, heavy roots

A clean scalp should not feel tight.

If your roots feel heavy by the end of the day, or your scalp itches under Singapore humidity, the answer is usually a better cleanse, not a stronger one. We start by reading the scalp.

Who it is for

Signs the scalp is congested.

Oiliness is not a failure of hygiene. Sebum production, product residue, humidity and over-cleansing all interact. The treatment is designed for the scalp that feels busy rather than dry.

  • Roots feel heavy or slick within a day
  • Itching at the crown or hairline
  • Flaking that looks yellow or oily
  • Product build-up from dry shampoo or styling
  • Tightness after washing with strong shampoo
  • A scalp that reacts to Singapore humidity

If you have broken skin, an active infection or a medical scalp condition, please see a doctor first. We can work alongside dermatological care once the skin is stable.

Questions

Oily scalp, answered

How do I know if my scalp is oily or just dry?
Oily scalps often feel heavy or itchy at the crown within a day of washing, while dry scalps feel tight and may flake. The two can overlap. The scalp analysis helps tell them apart before we choose a cleanser.
Will a detox make my scalp produce more oil?
A gentle, well-formulated cleanse supports the scalp barrier. Harsh stripping cleansers can leave the scalp tight and reactive, which is why we avoid them. Your therapist will match the protocol to what the scalp shows.
How often should I book the detox?
Most guests book every two to four weeks at the start, then extend to monthly as the scalp settles. Your therapist will suggest a review date based on oil return and comfort.
Can I combine the detox with a head spa?
Yes. Some guests book the detox first, then a head spa on a separate visit for a slower experience. If you want both on the same day, message the studio and we will check the schedule.
